RTE Completes Guardian Installation
The French utility establishes itself as a key strategic partner in Europe
In the South West of France, Réseau de Transport d'Électricité (RTE) installed Smart Wires units on a 63 kV line. The full deployment of this distributed power flow controller will allow more flexible operational control of the grid and improve quality of electric service for customers. After a feedback period, RTE will investigate completing the installation with a few tens of modules (up to 1 Ohm) on this same overhead line as the full and operational solution. |

TransGrid Deploys!
The Sydney-based utility's installation is the first for Smart Wires in Australia
In New South Wales, Australia, TransGrid’s deployment of Smart Wires technology on a 132 kV line marks the first installation of modular power flow control technology in Australia. TransGrid’s objectives were to gain familiarity with the installation process and the communications and IT infrastructure required to operate the units. TransGrid is interested in leveraging modular power flow control to optimize the utilization of its existing infrastructure and enable increased penetrations of renewable generation. |
