Chief Commercial Officer
Mark Freyman oversees Smart Wires’ global business development and commercial activities.
Throughout his 25 year career, Mark has successfully created competitive advantage and strategic value in top tier firms across the technology and strategy consulting industries.
Prior to joining Smart Wires, he was Vice President of Strategic Alliances & Investment Structuring at Chevron Renewable Power. In this role he led the evaluation, structuring and financing of more than $500 million of U.S.-based energy efficiency, solar and geothermal projects.
At Chevron, Mark was responsible for defining and executing a go-to-market strategy to deploy capital in a tax-advantaged market, and creating a sophisticated deal structure to drive this market. This work was critical to unlocking the business case for large-scale renewable development in the US.
Previously, Mark was a principal partner in a wind power development firm and co-founder of a distributed solar generation development firm. In those capacities, he closed hundreds of millions of dollars of project financings across various policy regimes.
He has held a variety of other roles in business development, finance and strategic planning.
Mark holds a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of Michigan, and received an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
“I am fascinated by complex business challenges, technology with an impact, and how people make decisions. Combine these and I’m in my element – where I am now.”
