Smart Wires CEO Peter Wells and Federal Energy Regulatory Commissioner Allison Clements discussed several initiatives, including a recent proposal requiring utilities to consider GETs as part of their transmission planning process. Calling Australia one of the top global markets in terms of transmission planning regulation, Peter Wells discussed game-changing technologies with other industry experts during the Australian Energy Week Conference in Melbourne. During his week in Australia, Transgrid hosted Peter and other members of our APAC team on a tour of Stockdill Substation, where Australia’s largest SmartValve deployment will deliver 120 MW of extra network capacity.

A new project with ISA Transelca in Colombia will enable an additional 300 MW of renewables to reliably connect to the grid by June 2024. This is Smart Wires’ second largescale project with the Colombian utility.
