Modular Static Synchronous Series Compensator (M-SSSC): EMT Modeling for Real-Time and Offline Simulations

The objective of this paper is to present a Modular Static Synchronous Series Compensator (M-SSSC), and particularly its Electromagnetic Transient (EMT) model structure, its behavior in response to setpoint changes and certain transient events in power system, its main operational characteristics and modes, and its possible use in several platforms, as non-real-time power systems software, as real-time application
by using Model-in-the-loop approach.
